The Gallia County Recorder’s Office does not publicly disclose information on recording backlog. However, note that the county’s document turnaround time is one day.

If your construction project is located in Gallia County, then yes, you should file your lien here.

The Gallia County Recorder’s document standardization guidelines are as follows:

* Computer font size of at least 10 point
* Minimum paper size – 8 ½ X 11, Maximum paper size – 8 ½ X 14
* Black or blue ink ONLY
* No use of highlighting
* Margins of 1 inch on each side of the page and on the bottom
* 3 inch margin on the top of the first page, reserved for recorder, auditor & engineer
* 1 ½ margin on the top of each of the remaining pages

If a document signed does not conform to these guidelines, an additional recording fee of $20.00 will be collected.

Basic Recording Fees (Deeds, mortgage documents, affidavits, agreements, annexations, easements, certificates of transfer, land contracts, leases, mechanic’s liens, partnerships, trust documents, powers of attorney (per 317.32[a]): $28.00($34.00 starting 10/17/19) for first two pages and $8.00 for each additional page

Marginal References 317.232(D): $4.00 each reference

Non-conforming Document: $20.00

Lien Fees

Federal Tax Liens (IRS), Refilings, Corrections 317.09 and 317.32: $5.00
Release of federal liens: $3.00

Copy Fees

Copies 317.32(I): $2.00 per page
Certified Copies 317.32(B): $2.00 per page + $1.00 per seal
