worked on a Job and completed about %80 of work and asked for an ammount and did not recieve payment and owner ended up taking Job away from me.
Washingtoni have a contract for a addition. there are no provisions for payouts for the job. when i needed money i was to ask for it. i have recieved 50% of the money as of now, but need more to procede. now the project has not gone along as fast i or the owner have wanted. so last week i asked for more money and was fired yesterday for lack of progress. there are no time tables set or anything like that. is this legal

MississippiIf there are no lien release forms for the contractors and subs, what protects the owner from requesting more money that what is in the agreement?
Or, more importantly, what protects the owner if the contractor doesn’t pay the subs??

We have a $20K lien filed on a property owned by Debbie Outlaw, and have sent a follow up notice of intent to foreclose. There are 4 other notices / liens reflected on your system. I have little to no confidence in payment anytime soon.
I have been approached by Southern Commercial Collectors Assoction www.sccaglobal.com with an offer @ 20% fee contingent on collection. They have also offered to litigate @ $3500 if need be to enforce payment.
I'm wondering if this is a good approach or if there are any better alternatives?

We have a client that we have worked with for years whom has always been a bit of stickler for paying. At this time he is not responding to emails or phone calls. He has two outstanding bills where portions of the bill have been paid but not the final payment which is primarily labor costs.
We are an electrical contractor.
Project 1 is done in a commercial location where he owns the buildings and he has not paid the final balance close to $3000 / Completed July 31, 2020 last bill was send on August 14, 2020, with a due date of Sept.4th for the remaining balance
Project 2 is done in his home where he has paid zero of the labor with the final balance close to $6000 Payment was due on July 30th, revised due to a correction on invoice on August 31st and due Sept. 9th
When I resent the bills he basically said I was irritating him and that he would rather pay a lawyer than settle the two bills. I wrote him back stating that we were being professional and payments were due and apologized for being an irritant.
Based on past experience, he has big lawyers and tons of property in the Bay Area and other States, hence I was thinking small claims, so he would be unable to bring is A++ lawyers and speak for himself. Am I crazy?
It is too late to file a mechanics lien at this time and I am unsure how to handle the next step.
We want to be done with this client once we are paid for our services.

TexasI have a contract on the Job. He owes me $3,900.00 . I have before and after photos of the work done and it was done right. The house has water damage causing the 40yr old popcorn ceiling to crack (8 inch crack). The painting of the ceiling caused the crack to expand 3-4 inches wider . Home owner trying to blame me for his ceiling crack. Fixing this crack was not in the contract. Owner also complaining about a rust spot coming through the new paint. (a 5 min. fix)
His Emails indicate that he does not plan on paying me in full or possibly not at all.
I imagine he will try to talk me into accepting way less than he owes me.
Can I accept partial payment and then go after him w a lean for the rest? I he makes me sign something to let him off the full payment can I sue for blackmail?
If I don't accept what his offer is I may not ever get anything out of him if he diappears into australia.
