I'm an environmental consultant and collected 2, 4oz jars of soil media and with an oral agreement to submit the soil to a lab, which I have an account. There was 8 total analyses for literally hundreds of compounds totaling $1,300. There was urgency on behalf of the Client and these samples would help to define the subsequent proposal and cost estimate. The Client is now saying that he did not order the analysis, says he ordered the analysis to stop and won't pay. He was to late to stop the process of analysis. There is a definite "shelf life" or technically a holding time of 10 days. Please advise....Read More

It is for the installation and removal of appliances, hardwares, lighting fixtures and wall plates, painting, door handles, toilets, water and drain connectivity, air vents, and blinds. Can you please tell me what is accurate and acceptable as mid-west labor only cpsf or flat pricing, down payments, and legal necessities required?...Read More
Hello, I work in an Accounting Department for a construction company. On most of our jobs, we are hired as the General Contractor. I am the person that collects a copy of the recorded NOC, files the NOFs we receive from subcontractors, as well as prepare and send lien waivers before payment is issued to subcontractors. I do have a question regarding the NOFs along with lien waivers. Say for instance we are working with an electrical company, ABC Electrical, and they get their supplies from 123 Electric. The NOF that we we would typically receive would be from 123 Electric, and it would state that the "undersigned is furnishing to ABC Electrical." Do I need to have any sort of full lien waiver signed by ABC Electrical for 123 Electric stating that once we pay ABC Electrical, they agree to pay 123 Electric? I am confident in the lien waivers that I send directly to subcontractors with that we have signed contracts with. What I am not so sure about is when we get NOFs from companies that our subcontractors are working with. Any insights that you would find helpful related to this matter would be extremely appreciated. Thank you, Lexie Bruske FED Design/Builders lexie@fedcorp.com 989-246-9122...Read More

Our crew recently did a project for a General Contractor and I totally dropped the ball on sending the notice of furnishing. I ordered it today, but we are 21 days outstanding, does it make sense to still send it and can I perfect my lien rights if necessary? For reference we are still currently working on the project....Read More

I cannot find the language for the "notice" described in this statement:
"In Michigan, prime contractors, subcontractors, laborers, and suppliers are all required to give preliminary notice on all projects except 1 to 4 family residential owner-occupied buildings. For those projects, the “notice” required must be contained within the contract itself between the home improvement general contractor and the owner-occupier."
Does not having this in a contract signed in October 2017 prevent us from being able to file a lien?...Read More
