I am a subcontractor in Ct. I am not confident my customer intends to pay my complete balance. They would like me to adjust the lien amount to match the portion paid prior to paying the complete balance. I am concerned if I reduce the amount of original lean amount that they won’t pay the balance.
ConnecticutContractor permanently damaged my home, did not pay balance to faulty contractor. Faulty contractor sued me for balance and put a lien on my home. Contractor did not show up for court case. Case was dismissed by judge. How do I get the lien removed from my property?
ConnecticutI am the homeowner of a property adjacent to an ongoing construction project. The only access to the construction project is via a right of way easement across my property. In performing the construction, they have incurred significant damage to my driveway; probably $60-$70,000. Am I able to file a mechanics lien against the project or is there a better way to handle that?
ConnecticutA contractor I hired did not pay one of his subs. The job was completed and we closed out payment with our contractor. Unbeknownst to us, he had subbed out part of the work, and never paid the sub. The sub has now sent us a notice to lien. ConnecticutHello! We are uPVC windows and doors supplier, and we are working in 20 states all over USA. We are delivering windows under main agreement with client within few months, and if client needs something additional we sign additional agreement (or client change order) and we are delivering additional orders paid by client until project is completed. My question is regarding last delivery date, which date should be our last delivery date for Lien purposes, when we delivered main order last container or we can extend this to when we delivered last additional order paid by client? Also, how would lien deadline calculate for retainage? Thank you!
ConnecticutI am a subcontractor who was hired by a general contractor for a home remodel. He never paid my final payment. I was told by the home owner i can not file a lien against his home where the work took place because he did not hire me and its the general contractors problem.

I hired a painting contractor, he didnot Finish the job, and refused to return to compete the job. After few days rather than completing he started asking the for payment and threatening and also filed the lien against me which is wrong as the work is not finished yet. When he asked for payment I simply requested work to be finished first abd requested to send his workers. When I questioned the type of work his worker did and their license he threatened me to file a case of defamation against me. I have all the texts abd agreement to prove my point. Please advise what should be my next step. Thanks

ConnecticutI signed a contract with a customer to refinish his kitchen. I am changing the color of the cabinets. They are also doing other things like countertops, floor, and backsplash. He called me a said the other contractors are delayed so they want to delay my part of the job. He also wants his deposit back. I am able to do my part of job on time. My contract follows the state guidelines. I advised him he had three day grace period where he could cancel. We are beyond the three days. Just curious what the legalities are with this situation. He doesn’t want to cancel the job but he wants his deposit back.

ConnecticutI rented equipment to a customer in CT to crush rock. I was not paid in full. I filed a mechanics lien against the property owner, where our equipment was rented. Now the customer has an application at the court for discharge of the lien, on the grounds that the lien is excessive. Is he correct. Im still not paid by the customer. If the lien is filed against the property owner, how can my customer ask permission to discharge the lien?
Can I go ahead and pursue the lien against the property before the discharge of the lien takes place in July
ConnecticutI did hire subcontractors, to perform geotechnical study on the property, surveyor to prepare existing site map, developed architectural design,
(not a final construction drawings), prepared architectural site design (not an engineered construction site drawings).
I have to pay my consultants: geotechnical engineer for for soil tests, and soil reports, and surveyor for the property survey (property map), but owner does not pay. and it looks like he does not want to go further with the design at this time. I am afraid that this 90 days window may pass soon.
ConnecticutHello Everyone, I am a law student in CT interested in construction law and have been researching mechanic's liens. I have seen it referenced that some states prohibit assignment of said liens in articles posted on Levelset, but have failed to find any statutory language which explicitly prohibits them. Several states have no reference to assignment in their mechanics lien statutes at all. Is there a state which does not allow for assignment of a perfected mechanic's lien? Thank you for your time and effort. Levelset has been my go to for all construction research.
