I am an Interior Designer. The contractor that I hired to renovate my customer's bathroom was unprofessional, did not complete the job, did poor work and has charged me with additional fees. The contractor sent my customer an e-mail slandering and degrading my name and my work. I emailed the contractor with a payment offer, he did not respond. He is now attempting to extort money from me by threatening my customer with an Attempt to Lien through Levelset. I have disputed the inflated fee he is attempting to collect from me via Levelset. How is this dispute settled on Levelset? How can I prevent a Lien and is the Lien legal? My customers did not contract him to do the renovation, I did.
Please respond, my customer is threatening to file suit against myself and the contractor if this is not resolved immediately.

If we are considering placement of a lien on a residential property due to non-payment, is there a notification requirement to the mortgage holder or lender in addition to the property owner? If so, is this a formal notification that requires the mortgage holder or lender to be legally served or is this more of a courtesy so they are aware of the potential for a lien on the property?...Read More
Our small sole proprietor ship performed labor on a powerplant. The owner slowly fell behind so we had to pay our laborers. We sent her the bill twice via the plant manager and his email. It is about $16,000.
What should we do? Send certified letter for Prompt Payment demand with intention to place lien in 90 days? What form must I complete for the lien or court case.? Superior Court? Does she have to be served by a sheriff?
