What to do after receiving a notice of contest of Lien

FloridaMechanics Lien

I am a contractor who filed a lien on a property and the home owner sent a letter saying they are contesting the Lien. Do i need to file something next?

The notice contesting the lien should have come from the clerk of the court. If it did then as the notice says you have 60 days within which to file suit on your lien or it will expire. Once expired it cannot be renewed or filed again. If you have a direct contract with the owner then you must serve the owner with a final payment affidavit not less than five days before the suit can be filed. In a compressed time frame this can become a problem. See a lawyer with construction lien experience right away about this.

You will need to file a lawsuit to pursue your claim.
