The owner of the property to who i filled the lien is asking if a have an attorney for line case. what should I said? everything I know is that I paid for this service to levelset. What should I do?
You are not required to have an attorney to file a mechanic's lien, but (at the risk of sounding self-serving) it is always better pratice to use one to file the lien to ensure that the form is correct, that the amounts you wish to lien for are properly the subject of the lien, and that it is served correctly. Regardless, since a mechanic's lien foreclosure is a full-fledged lawsuit, retaining an attorney is HIGHLY recommended if you're going to take that step. That being said, it would not be an improper (or weak) response to advise the owner that you haven't retained an attorney YET, but if you cannot negotiate a payment on the lien you won't hesitate to do so.
if the party that filed the lien is a corporation, you will need an attorney to foreclose. you do not to talk settlement. the owner may be trying to gauge how serious you are. I will tell him if you need one, you will have one. see his next move.
Good luck
