I own a piece of land in Virginia, and allowed my then Brother-In-Law to place approximately 100 pallets of building materials (brick, block, etc) on that land. Now, 4+ years (and a divorce) later, the building materials are still there - and I want to sell the land. I've got a buyer and an offer to purchase the land, but only if the building materials are removed. What's the best way to give him notice that I want the building materials gone? (And if he ultimately refuses to respond - or won't remove them can I assume that they're abandoned and dispose of them myself?)
