What is the website where already filed Mechanics Liens can be searched at?

New YorkMechanics Lien

what is the searchable(?) website where I can see the recorded Mechanics Lien that I filed in Manhattan County in NYC? I have tried a couple of sites, but can't seem to find one for already filed Mechanics Liens...

NY County does not have their liens online. The only way to check would be to go to the Clerk's office.

if you are out of state, could could hire someone, either a lawyer or even Levelset to check the file in the clerk's office. Lines are not yet searchable on line.

Any liens for private improvements would only be filed in the County Clerk’s office in whatever County the property sits.

Thank you one and all for taking the time to respond. I deeply appreciate you making the effort in giving me the info I didn't have. Considering when I filed the original lien and when it would have lapsed, renewing the lien was furthest from my mind, I was working to keep my business open with grossly reduced and/or non-existent revenue . It would seem that the lien laws favor the wrong people and make the subs have to do the extra legwork. We do the work, and the Owners/GC's walk away with free money....

I dont know your situation. However, if you see things through to the end, whether you have a lien or not, justice is usually served. In this instance, you may not have a lien anymore but you have 6 years to sue for breach of contract. If the claim is large enough, you may want to pursue a lawsuit.

I understand, i recommend you retain counsel adn sue the gc. if the job is less than a year beyond overall completion, you could consider diversion of trust funds.

Again, thank you for your added info. In a basic nutshell, I was hired by a local scenic company here in Orlando to create fiberglass items for the museum. The scenic company who hired me renegged on my contract and pulled the project before we could complete it, with me holding material and used labor that I was not able to get paid for. So I filed a lien against the GC in NYC, and the scenic company here in Orlando. The scenic company has pretty much gone out of business as they were sued by other entities. I've been in business for over 30+ years and have done pretty well in making sure I don't get screwed. This one slipped thru the cracks. And because last year was a nightmare, keeping mental track of a deadline, was NOT on the forefront of my business concerns. Having with the Walt Disney World resort as one of my main clients, I've become VERY careful to make sure I don't get caught in a compromising way in my other projects. Take it from me; its TOUGH being a sub !!!!!

Thanks for the response. You shouldnt have filed a lien in NYC if you did the work in Florida. You can only file a lien on the property where you did the work or furnished the material (unless I am not reading your reply correctly). In any event, if you have no lien and the contractor who hired you is out of business, you are most likely chasing rainbows.
