David, Good morning. I am a General contractor in Texas. We stopped working on a project 11/21. What is the last date I can file a lien, and, do I as a GC have to send a notice? Thank you

On non-residential projects, a prime contractor must file its lien affidavit by the 15th day of the 4th month after the contractor's work was completed, terminated, or abandoned. On residential projects, the affidavit must be filed by the 15th day of the 3rd month after the contractor's work was completed, terminated, or abandoned.

If a prime contractor completed, terminated, or abandoned its work on a non-residential project in November 2021, the prime contractor’s lien affidavit was due March 15, 2022. If it was a residential project, the prime contractor’s lien affidavit was due on February 15, 2022.
