What if the mobilization was delayed caused by the owner?

I have a contact lately, the owner issued me a notice to proceed, but right after we mobilize, the owner verbally stopped me, for the reason, that the Area/lot has another claimant.. After 5 months of waiting, the problem was resolved.. My question, Do i have to claim additional cost for the delay? And what provision do i cite if merit? Thanks.

In most situations, the answer would be yes. You would need to raise the issue with the owner in writing and ultimately submit any claim for additional cost and additional time. Otherwise, you may be at risk of waiving any claim for additional cost or time. A determination of how and when to provide that notice or make that claim would require review of the contract and possibly guidance from an attorney.
