What do I need to do as a property owner to remove a mechanical lien from my property?

CaliforniaMechanics Lien

A sub whom was hired by my contractor finished the work and then overcharged my contractor. They have not been able to work it out as of yet and I received two mechanical liens due to this “argument” on my property. I don’t trust my contractor to get this done since he has been less than honest about other things and don’t want to get stuck with any legal issues fines etc as the property owner. What do I need to do to resolve this?

Consider asking your general contractor to post a mechanics lien release bond.  You can also post a lien release bond yourself.  Once 90 days passes from the date the liens were recorded, if the lien claimants have not filed suit to enforce their liens, you can petition the court to have the liens removed.  This is a complex situation and you should consider consulting with a construction lawyer.
