State/County located at top of NOC

Michigan

My owner is in CA but the project is in MI. I'll file the NOC in MI. At the top of the NOC, it has MI and the county. Is this where the project is located or where the notary is located?

Hi Michele, There is a, "please return to" box that I think you are looking at. This is your mailing address- it does not have to be in Michigan. You'll want to provide a self-addressed stamped envelope so the county recorder can provide your recorded NOC. The property address as it appears on the document is where NOC-filers list out the Michigan job address, and with that the project legal property description, which you can pull from an accessor's website. The notary block with "state of" and "county of" does describe the location of the notary at signing. It does not have to be a Michigan notary, to my knowledge. I hope this helps- the NOCs are just one of many papers being filed and exchanged at job start. Levelset can help you collect, file and store many of these documents for smooth payment management. Wishing you all the best on this new job! Emily
