More information is needed, however. If you paid for the job and the company is refusing to perform you should send a demand letter threatening to take legal action for breach of contract.

We would need to understand why they are refusing. If they are just radio silent, then this a called a "deposit - no work case". There are a bunch of licensure violations that result in this type of conduct. Depending on the size of the deposit (over 10%), if they don't apply for permits within 30 days or commence work in 90 = licensure violation. If they started work and just stopped, then after 90 days you can deem the project abandoned. You should file a complaint with the DBPR and make a recovery fund claim, assuming you meet the criteria. You can also contact your local district attorney and make a report for possible criminal activity and/or you can make a demand for the return of the money and initiate a civil action.
