We are owed $212k from the GC. Some of the owners of the project are also owners in an upcoming project. We filed a lien but may be willing to settle for 10% off to get the upcoming project. Does negotiating hurt my ability to collect on the lien?

Good morning! This is more a negotiation strategy question than a legal question. That being said, I do not think that lowering the amount owed by 10% has any adverse effect on your strategy.

The majority of lien claims are settled. There is no downside to trying to resolve your claim. However, you must be careful that you do not accept a discount and end up not getting the new project.
