Is it necessary for a general contractor hired by a property owner to send a notice of intent to lien before they file a mechanics lien? If you don't send the notice of intent, will that affect the lien if it's been filed?

Notices of Intent to lien are not required in Oregon. Parties who contract directly with the property owner have one notice requirement in Oregon - on residential projects, they must provide an Information Notice to Owner at the time of signing the construction contract with the owner, (or when the contract becomes greater than $2000). However, no other notice is required or necessary to claim a valid and enforceable lien.
