Is a mechanics lien the correct thing.

IowaMechanics LienRight to Lien
Anonymous Contractor

I am a trucking company that did some delivery routes for another trucking company in Iowa. My company supplied all vehicles / fuel / labor to do these routes. I am not being paid for several invoices and was curious if this is the correct lien?

Mechanics liens secure payment for payments owed and outstanding for work that permanently improves real property - generally, construction work. So, unfortunately, running delivery routes won't be the type of thing that triggers mechanics lien rights. Potentially, some trucking work - like supplying dirt to a job site, or hauling off waste from a construction job - might begin to dip into the realm of mechanics lien rights, but there'd still need to be some permanent improvement to the property for that to be the case.
