That’s a very good question. While some counties are experiencing a delay due to COVID, many others are seemingly unaffected. However, that doesn’t mean that government offices don’t have protocols in place to protect the public and their staff that visitors should be aware of.

Each county is handling the pandemic differently. The quickest way to know the current status of a given office would be to call the Clerk’s Office for the county you’re filing in, or visit their webpage. You can ask if they are open for in-person recording, if they have a drop box or other method for contactless recording in place, and if they are experiencing any delays. Many offices also offer a mail-in option, which can be slower than walking a document in, but may help circumvent COVID related closures. It’s worth noting that many county offices across the country are open for in-person recording as long as their posted COVID prevention protocols are followed. To find out more about statewide requirements for COVID prevention Florida’s plan for reopening can be found through the Florida Department of Health.

Many Florida counties also offer e-record technology through different vendors. To find out which vendors your county has partnered with, you can give the Clerk’s Office a call, or visit their website. Another option is to use a filing service, like Levelset, to file your documents, eliminating the need to visit the Clerk's Office entirely.

The virus can also spread if you touch a surface with the virus on it and then touch your mouth, nose or eyes. But the risk is low. The COVID-19 virus can spread from someone who is infected but has no symptoms. This is called asymptomatic transmission. Most people with COVID-19 get better within a few days to a few weeks after infection, so at least four weeks after infection is the start of when post-COVID conditions could first be identified. Anyone who was infected can experience post-COVID conditions.
