I have a contractor that never finished a job. I made many attempts to work with the contractor for 30 days to complete the job, but they were unwilling to work. They are now threatening a lien on my property (although they have never even billed me for the job). I have since hired another company to come in and completely redo the job that starts next week. If they do file a lien, do I get a chance to file the documentation that I have that shows they didn't finish, nor even accomplish any of the line items on the contract? They also were unlicensed while performing the work. I'm not sure if it is an idol threat or what. I feel like I'm dealing with a Nigerian Prince type of operation. But am a little concerned that they might actually file a lien. And I don't know what it takes to fight such a lien.
