A lien was filed on our parents house and we have since settled the disagreement. I need to know if the contractor removed the lien.

It's common for an owner to require the lien claimant to provide a copy of their recorded release in exchange for payment. If that wasn't provided, then requesting one after the work might do the trick. But, even if the owner doesn't receive that from their contractor, searching the property record should clarify whether the claimant has released their mechanics lien.
Contacting your local county recorder's office should help if you need to search the record. They may be able to search the property for you, or they could at least instruct you on how to research the records to determine whether a release was filed.
You can find the contact information for your local county recorder, here: Directory of Nebraska County Recorders.

Your best bet is to look on the Register of Deeds website to see if the lien release has been filed.
