I have been doing work in La and would like to know if there is a document like Florida has that is call a notice to owner/notice to contractor, which tells them services were provided.
Louisiana does have some preliminary notice rules, but only some parties will be required to provide notice depending on the project type and the work being done. For example, direct contractors on jobs exceeding $100,000 must file a Notice of Contract. And, material suppliers and equipment lessors may have some requirements, too. You can learn all about them here: Who needs to send a Louisiana preliminary notice?
For the most part, though, subcontractors and GC's on smaller jobs won't need to send notice. But, regardless of what's required, sending a voluntary preliminary notice can help avoid payment issues by letting the owner and higher-tiered contractors know you're doing work on the job.
