Do you have to file a lawsuit in PA to file a mechanics lien?

Pennsylvania

I have ordered a lien through your site to be filed in PA. I received an unsigned cover sheet that looks to be filing or commencing a lawsuit in Allegheny County. Does PA require a lawsuit to be filed simultaneously with a lien? What is the purpose of the cover sheet?

No, not initially. However, the required form of the Mechanics’ Lien Claim is similar to a complaint that initiates a lawsuit in most jurisdictions.

Also, Pennsylvania law requires you to file a Complaint to enforce a Mechanics’ Lien claim, which is like a traditional lawsuit, within two years of filing a Mechanics’ Lien claim.
