There is no prohibition in New York for filing a mechanic's lien against a landmarked building. However, if the landmark building is owned by a public entity (the City of New York for example) a lien cannot be filed (for reasons unrelated to its landmark status).

As long as it is privately owned, you may file a lien. If it is a public building, you need to file a public lien
