Can suppliers file a mechanics lien in Mississippi if they're left unpaid on a project?

Yes. A material supplier as far as to the second tier can file a lien in Mississippi. Depending on what tier you are depends on what you have to do to be able to make the claim. In other words, in a commercial/non-residential claim a supplier with a direct contract with the owner or with the GC just needs to file its lien within 90 days of last supply. If the supplier's contract is with a sub., then it has to have issued a Notice of Commencement (pre-lien) to the General Contractor within 30 days after its first supply to perfect its right to file a lien.

We are the the material supplier with the sub, we have no cotract with teh owner and I was jsut notified of the problem with non payment from teh owner. The sub had been ignoring our inquires.
