I'm a roofing contractor. I specialize in helping property owners get insurance claims for roof replacement for hail damage. I have a signed contract to replace several roofs for the same customer (located on 3 different properties) but all the work is part of one insurance claim for hail damage. The properties were all insured on one insurance policy. My contract line itemizes all the work being paid for in the insurance claim that I was instrumental in getting his insurance company to pay. I was given a sizable deposit by the customer upon his signing of my contract. My customer is now saying he will only allow me to replace one of the roofs and is refusing to honor his contract for the replacement of several other roofs itemized in my Scope of Work that he signed. The amount of money in dispute is $200,000. He informed me that he would only honor a portion of our contract PRIOR to my performing ANY of the work at all. I am about to begin work on one roof in the contract he has agreed to have me replace for $196,000. But he will not allow me to replace the other roofs I have under contract with him to replace. He's not saying why, but I know it's because he just wants to keep the insurance money.
