Our company has not been paid in over 90 days for work performed and we would like to place a lien on a job. Is an intent to lien notice required first or can we move forward with filling the lien?

No, assuming you are in North Carolina. There is no need to file or serve an intent to lien. You can file the lien within 120 days of the last date on which you provided labor or materials to the jobsite. You must then file a complaint to enforce the lien within 180 days of the last date on which you provided labor or materials to the jobsite.
