A lien has been placed on my single family home. How do I remove the lien since the issue has been resolved?

New YorkLien Releases

13 years ago my neighbor complained about a crack in my sidewalk and put a lien on my single family house. I fixed it immediately. The lien was never removed and I am in contract to sell the house. However with the lien still active the sale cannot proceed. This happened in Queens, New York city. What should I do?

If payment to a contractor has been satisifed or an issue with a party that filed a lien has been resolved, a lien release should be filed. A lien release is a document filed with the county recorder's office that releases or cancels a filed mechanics lien. Lien releases are also known as "lien cancellations" or "satisfaction of lien claims".

To file a lien release, they are filed with the county recoder or office where the lien was recorded. Make sure that the lien contains all correct information considering making a mistake can invalidate the release and potentially create issues for the lien claimant. In most cases, a lien release must also be notarized. You can file a lien release through Levelset in minutes!
