Michael Kaufmann is a litigation attorney with a general practice encompassing business and commercial litigation, construction and design, insurance defense, and labor and employment litigation. Mr. Kaufmann has experience assisting clients with a variety of issues, including construction defect and mechanic’s lien litigation, trade secrets and business torts, contract disputes, federal civil rights litigation, and insurance coverage disputes. As a current member of the Construction Law Section Council of the Iowa State Bar Association, Mr. Kaufmann stays abreast of legal issues facing Iowa’s construction industry.
Prior to joining Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman, Mr. Kaufmann worked as a judicial law clerk for United States Magistrate Judge Celeste F. Bremer of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. As a law clerk, Mr. Kaufmann worked closely with federal judges to prepare orders resolving dispositive motions and handling pretrial matters in a broad range of cases.
Mr. Kaufmann graduated from Iowa State University, cum laude, with degrees in Economics and Political Science. He then earned his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law.
