Joshua Genser is General Counsel at C. Overaa & Co. (www.overaa.com), a general engineering contractor. Mr. Genser practiced law for more than thirty years, representing businesses, including nonprofits, in both transactions and litigation. Mr. Genser is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Richmond Development Company, LLC, developing office, warehouse, industrial and commercial properties. He has a Master’s Degree in Economics from Stanford University and his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Mr. Genser is the immediate past Chair of the Board of the Richmond (California) Community Foundation.
In addition, Mr. Genser has served the community as a Director and past Chair of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Pinole and Hercules Chambers of Commerce, Director, Treasurer and Past President of Temple Beth Hillel, Chair of the City of Richmond’s Private Industry Council, Economic Development Commission, Human Relations and Affirmative Action Commission and Blue Ribbon Commission on Waste Water, and has served on its Blue Ribbon Commission on the Shoreline, General Plan Advisory Committee and Blue Ribbon Commission on the Point Molate Reuse Plan. Mr. Genser chaired the School District’s Blue Ribbon Committee on High School Reform. In 2007, Genser & Watkins was given the Chief Justice Ronald M. George Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year Award by the Contra Costa County Bar Association, and Mr. Genser was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by The Law Center.
