About Christopher Hillman
Chris is a practiced civil litigator, commercial law attorney and real estate attorney in Baty Otto Coronado’s Kansas City office. He practices in the areas of business and real estate transactions, commercial law and litigation, construction law and litigation, general insurance litigation, and estate planning.

In the commercial law area, Chris provides counseling to small and midsize businesses, including family businesses. Chris works with business clients on a wide variety of issues including business formation, sales of businesses, real estate transactions, contract drafting and negotiation, human resources, and risk management.

In the litigation area, Chris represents businesses and individuals in cases ranging from claims of construction design and defect, premises liability, contract disputes, insurance coverage, fraud, misrepresentation, and other torts. He also has had notable success as a products liability lawyer. Chris works closely with his clients to find solutions, drawing on his experience as a corporate lawyer and as a litigator.

In the estate planning area, Chris prepares wills, trusts, and other estate plan documents for his clients. He provides a comprehensive approach to each client’s estate planning needs. In addition to a J.D. degree, Chris has an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, as well as a strong business background—assets in dealing with family concerns relating to small businesses in estate planning.

Chris speaks at continuing legal education programs. Past examples include the National Business Institute’s seminars, Construction Defect Litigation: From A to Z and Lunch and Learn – Discovery Issues in Construction Litigation at HarenLaughlin Restoration. He previously served on the board of directors and as treasurer of the Lawyers Association of Kansas City-Young Lawyers Section.
