Eaton County Register of Deeds now offers e-recording as an option for delivering your documents to the county for recording.

You may now e-record all your deeds, mortgages and other documents online. If you have high-speed Internet access and a scanner, you have what you need to start e-recording. For more information or to get started visit one of the following e-recording service providers:

The Eaton County Register of Deeds Office does not publicly disclose information on recording backlog.

The Eaton County Register of Deeds Office’s recording fees are as follows:

Recording Fees
For entering and recording any Deed, Mortgage, Lis Pendens, certified copies, or other Real Estate document:
Recording fee – $30

Any document which assigns or discharges more than one instrument; $3.00 shall be added to the recording fee for each additional instrument so assigned or discharged.

Tax Certificates
Warranty Deeds, Land Contracts or Assignments of Land Contracts must have a tax certificate from the County Treasurer’s Office (MCLA 211.135).

For up to 25 descriptions – $5.00
Each additional parcel description after – $0.20

Copy Fees
Copy, Real Estate Records – $1.00 per page
Copy of Recorded Plat – $2.00 per page
Certification of any recorded document – $1.00 per page, must be complete document; plus $5.00 per document for seal. (This service is not available on website)

There is no fee to access the index when you select the “Login as Guest” option. Credit cards are now available to pay for copies printed online. Copies are $1.00 per page; there is an additional fee of $1.00 per transaction (not per document) to use this option.

You can also obtain copies of documents by contacting the Eaton County Register of Deeds Office by phone or through the mail.
