Chatham County also offers eRecording through various vendors. This allows customers to file and record documents with the Superior Court Clerks office through the internet. This allows customers to simply scan the original documents, add the indexing information, and electronically submit it to the office within minutes. The Chatham County Superior Court Clerk’s Office does not publicly disclose information on recording backlog.

If your construction project is located in Chatham County, then yes, you should file your lien here.

Although there are no formatting requirements for mechanics liens in Georgia, you must include the following information:

1. Make sure you provide accurate information about yourself, the hiring party, and the property or project owner. Missing a small detail could invalidate your lien.
2. Make sure you provide an amount that includes the value of labor, materials, and nothing more. Overestimating your lien cost results in major consequences.
3. Include the legal property description, which can be obtained from the Chatham County Recorder’s Office.
4. Georgia law mandates that you include this notice on your lien claim: “THIS CLAIM OF LIEN EXPIRES AND IS VOID 395 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF FILING OF
THE CLAIM OF LIEN IF NO NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT OF LIEN ACTION IS FILED IN THAT TIME PERIOD.”
5. Finally, your lien must be witnessed and notarized according to Georgia state law.

There are no specific formatting requirements for mechanics liens filed in the state of Georgia.

The Chatham County Superior Court Clerk’s Office accepts cash, money order, certified bank funds, firm checks, or checks with local addresses printed on them.
