Notice of Intent to Lien

A warning letter that informs the recipient that the sender intends to claim a lien. In 9 states, sending a Notice of Intent is required to retain the right to file a mechanics lien.
It’s required part of the lien process in Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. In other states, it serves as a voluntary warning document that can be effective in securing payment without actually filing the mechanics lien.
